Is there hope for the Broken-Heart?

In this Valentine season hearts are everywhere, love is in the air.

But how many have broken hearts?20140213-060334.jpg

Heart break often refers to the end of a romantic relationship, but brokenness can be at a much deeper level.

The child whose parents abandon her at a young age, the teenage girl molested, the betrayal of a good friend, the cutting words of someone we respected….all these produce heart break. We live in a fallen world torn apart by the ravages of sin, the impact of sin is brokenness and pain.

Do we recognize our need for wholeness? Are we aware of our own broken hearts? Or do we just try to live with it, convincing ourselves we are ok? Trying to tell ourselves it isn’t that bad that there are others worse off than us?

I was broken, but I didn’t know it. I internalized every pain and buried it…
